Car Show - Uptown Sidewalk Sale

Gravenhurst, Ontario (June 15, 2009) – The businesses of Uptown Gravenhurst have for the second year have been given an opportunity to promote their businesses via an early summer street sale at the Chamber of Commerce 16th Annual Antique and Classic Car Show Saturday June 20, 2009.
What a weekend it will be…in addition to the Antique & Classic Car Show at Rotary Gull Lake Park, there is so much to celebrate…Father’s Day, the 50th Anniversary of “Music on the Barge”, The Bakery’s 50th Birthday and the first day of summer…. and the Gravenhurst Business Improvement Area (GBIA) will be hosting a Street Sale with unforgettable deals.
Similar to the Steamship Festival and Sidewalk Sale held annually in August, a road closure has been scheduled on the Main Street to facilitate the street sale. As well, a GIANT Raffle featuring the awesome prize of a “LazBoy” chair provided by Knapp’s Furniture will be a highlight of the day. Administrative Coordinator, Laura Meikle noted that “the chance to win this fabulous chair will draw more people to the street for a chance to win what every dad wants just in time for Father’s Day”. Prize ballots will be available at all participating merchants. The draw will take place promptly at 4:30 PM.
The Rotary Brat Wagon will again be participating cooking up the best hamburgers, hot dogs and brats in Muskoka. New Car Displays by businesses including Sander Motors, George Yewer Motors, Greavette, Mazda of Muskoka and Subaru of Muskoka will augment the merchant sale areas. Northland Metro Sales have also confirmed their participation. Hammond Transportation as well as Muskoka Springs will be on hand with their vehicles to further enhance the display.
Other activities include Fashion Shows presented by Vintage Nouveau at 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM and at 4:00 PM in front of their store. There will be live music featuring local talent outside Curries Music and hair cuts and styling outside 6KG throughout the day. The Opera House will be hosting “clips” on classic cars and hosting a cash bar in the Trillium Room. The Bakery, celebrating their 50th Anniversary, will be offering free coffee and donuts while supplies last. TD Canada Trust will feature a History of the Barge Display. If this isn’t enough, Trinity Unity Church is hosting their Annual Shop Around the Yard Sale from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM. As well, Saturday will be a great day to tour the Muskoka Chair 2009 Collection as bidding has begun on these one-of-a-kind masterpieces. New Chairs are arriving daily.
